Summer Theatre Intensive 2022

Smithtown Performing Arts Center’s Theatre Education Program Summer Theatre Intensive is an intensive theatre training program. It is designed to give all students, novices and seasoned performers alike, the opportunity to participate in the theatre experience. The mission of our program is to surround our students with a creative, collaborative atmosphere that fosters their self-esteem and communication skills.

**Enrollment in our Summer Theatre Intensive Program is limited. When a child is enrolled and payment is made in full-their space in the program is guaranteed. If for any reason a child must withdraw NO REFUNDS WILL BE OFFERED. If a child must withdraw, CREDIT ONLY toward future purchases at Smithtown Center for the Performing Arts is available.

Group 1: Grades K-3 - Camp Cabaret

In this session of camp, students will focus on dance numbers and songs from the show's Camp Rock and Legally Blonde. As our older students work on full productions, our younger students will get the opportunity to learn theater techniques and skills while working on a musical revue or Cabaret that is influenced by the work of the older students. Students will also learn a variety of theater games, voice and movement techniques, and the beginnings of dance choreography.

Group 2: Grades 4-8 - Camp Rock

In this session of camp, students will work on putting together a full production of Camp Rock. Students will learn audition techniques and all will be given a crucial part in the production. While rehearsing the show, students will also learn a variety of theater games, voice and movement techniques, and advanced dance choreography.

Group 3: Grades 9-12 - Legally Blonde

In this session of camp, students will work on putting together a full production of Legally Blonde. Students will learn audition techniques and all will be given a crucial part in the production. While rehearsing the show, students will also learn a variety of theater games, voice and movement techniques, and advanced dance choreography.

Group 1: Grades K-3 - From Page to Stage Cabaret

In this session of camp, students will work together with counselors and staff to create a musical revue of songs and dance numbers with a focus on musicals that were adapted from popular children's books. Students will learn audition techniques and all will be heavily featured in the final production. While rehearsing the show, students will also learn a variety of theater games, voice and movement techniques, and basic dance choreography.

Group 2: Grades 4-8 - From Page to Stage Cabaret

In this session of camp, students will work together with counselors and staff to create a musical revue of songs and dance numbers with a focus on musicals that were adapted from popular books. Group 3: Grades 9-12 - Revival Cabaret

In this session of camp, students will work together with counselors and staff to create a musical revue of songs and dance numbers with a focus on musicals that have been revived over the years. Students will learn audition techniques and all will be heavily featured in the final production. While rehearsing the show, students will also learn a variety of theater games, voice and movement techniques, and advanced dance choreography.

Important Camp Information

  • We accept youth in grades K-12.

  • First time enrollees in our TEP Program must pay a $40.00 administration fee.

  • All classes will meet at the Smithtown Performing Arts Center.

  • No transportation or food is provided by the TEP Program.

  • All students will take part in a showcase/show at the end of each 3-week session.

  • Missed classes cannot be made up. 

  • Youth must be transported to and from the theatre by either a parent or guardian, or an authorized individual of the enrollee.

  • All students should bring their own bag lunch and snacks.

  • No youth will be permitted to leave the facility at any time.
    (i.e. they can not go around the corner for pizza).

  • NO REFUNDS FOR ANY REASON

  • Discount for Members as noted. 5% Discount for siblings registered in the same session.
